Business: Take advantage of upcoming events
February 22, 2021 – Upcoming Events, Opportunities & Resources
From the Advisor:
This week’s newsletter is pretty chock-full of events to check out and diversity programs to look into, so I’ll make this section brief. As you can see from the content below, recruiting events have definitely not slowed down for spring semester; although we’re heaving on finance events, there’s opportunity for those interested in consulting and accounting as well (check out EY and KPMG!).
One resource I want to specifically mention are student industry ambassadors (highlighted below). They are composed of Georgetown students that have volunteered their time to answer any broad questions you may have about an industry and/or specific questions regarding recruiting. Their experiences span across many in-demand companies: McKinsey, BCG, PwC, Citi, Jefferies, and the like. I encourage you all to reach out to them, especially if you’ve never networked before. Connecting with a peer lessens the pressure and helps you gain experience before moving on to connect with alums in the companies and industries you’re looking into.
As always, feel free to reach out and/or sign up for an appointment if you have any questions!

From Fast Company
Many of you have asked me how you can stand out as a candidate when you’re recruiting. I would point you to demonstrating some of the qualities listed in this article, like confidence and enthusiasm. While this article is not an exhaustive list by any means, I hope it provides you with some inspiration on how you forge relationships with others and what you bring up in your networking conversations.
