From the Advisor:
Um yeah… about that memo…
Hey Hoyas! So yeah… about that memo/email/lack of appointments on Handshake. I feel you. I see you. I know you all have lots of questions about careers and whatnot. So where am I? Why don’t you see appointments? Well, there are two main reasons for that.
- Y’all are on.your.game. I put up appointments, and *snap* like that, they are filled. This is awesome. I just ask that if you have to cancel (it happens), please try to do so, with at least 24 hours notice. Doing so opens up the slot to your fellow Hoyas.
- The GEN Fair!! I am full steam ahead trying to get you all some great employer representatives to the February 17th Government, Education & Nonprofit Career Fair. This involves recruiting organizations, dealing with technical issues (Yay!) and lots and lots and lots of communication. But, this is all in service of you folks. These fairs, even online (and perhaps, especially online), are a great way to meet with perspective employers and get your resume to the top of the pile. Oh by the way – you should register!!
Rest assured, that as of February 21, I will have lots more appointments available. Until then, be sure to come in for drop-ins, and also be sure to check out my industry pages on our website.

- Careers in Intelligence: A new resource that outlines high level information on what to expect when job hunting within the intelligence community.
- Careers in Government Relations: At this point just a quick article on what the field looks like and what are some high level places to turn to look for opportunities. Check out some helpful resources and job boards for careers on the Hill or Hill-adjacent organizations
- Careers in Education: Be sure to check this page for details on the types of organizations to check out in the field of education, including many post-graduate volunteer opportunities.
Also – waaaaay down at the bottom of this email in the Resources section are two resources: Federal Government Fellowships & Internships (including timelines for applications) and Popular Government Contractors. Both are wonderful resources to examine as you seek opportunities for this Summer and beyond!
Thank you all, in advance, for your patience. Of course, if there are any urgent needs, feel free to reach out and I can do my best to accommodate you. Until then, hope you all stay dry & warm!
Peace,
Beth
