April 6, 2021 – Upcoming Events, Opportunities & Resources

From Jacki Banks, Arts, Media & Communication Advisor:

Dare I say, “Welcome back?”

I daringly said it, and, sadly, it is true.

There has been so much going on in the world over the past few weeks (and in this past year).  You deserve longer than a week. I know. Keep on doing the things that keep you grounded.  Gently lean into the career process, and reach out when you need.  Now, let’s spark some joy.

You have five minutes and want an insider’s advice to the entertainment industry.  Check out excerpts from a live community Q&A with Brad Hall, founder of EntertainmentCareers.Net, with the UCLA Alumni Association.  Take a quick listen to How do I become a production assistant and is it a gateway to TV writing (new window)?  And check out (new window).

You want even more advice from an entertainment insider. Follow, follow, follow Billy Gleason’s new group on LI – Starting Up in Television (new window). (Billy is a Production Coordinator at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and he is incredibly knowledgeable AND kind.) He also posts internship and entry level opportunities, including virtual information sessions like the one for NBCUNIVERSAL’s Page Program (Wednesday April 7th at 4:30pm ET). Register HERE (new window).

You are looking into short-term summer internships.  Say no more. Check out our GU VIEW program.  (Psst, just scroll down to the next section.) There are MANY opportunities for folks interested in social media and writing.  More than I included below.  Go to Handshake and search “Georgetown VIEW.”

Take care, Jacki
