Hello Hoyas!
Have you wondered about the difference between working at a startup vs. a large company? If you have remotely considered a startup, you’ve heard one needs to “wear multiple hats.” This can be especially beneficial if you are still exploring what types of roles would be interesting to you in the tech industry (or really, any industry!). Because at a startup, you will have a chance to take on several roles and work on multiple projects. Yet, working for a larger tech company will let you dive deeper and build skills in a particular area, with a team, and with technical experts (and potential mentors) nearby. There are pros and cons to both environments; I encourage you to gain experience in both, if you can, to see and feel the difference. Dip your toes in by reviewing their programs and applying to the startup internship program. Don’t Flub the Soft Skills: Here’s How To Include Soft Skills on Your Resume

The goal to demonstrating soft skills, such as teamwork and communication, on your resume is to show, not tell. The author recommends staying away from listing skills in a skills section. Rather, the recommendation is to weave soft skills into your bullet statements. This article provides specific examples for numerous soft skills including teamwork, initiative, leadership, problem solving, organizational, communication, creative and design, conflict resolution, and attention detail.
