Student No-Show Policy

Interviews & 1:1 Employer/Alumni No-Show

When you schedule an interview or a 1-on-1 with an employer or an alumnus, you are making a commitment to honor that engagement. Not only can a “no-show” negatively impact Georgetown’s relationship with that employer or alumnus, it also takes an opportunity away from another Hoya.

What If My Plans Change?

If you must move or cancel your appointment, please do so more than 24 hours before 9 a.m. of the day of your event via Handshake/Google calendar. If it is less than 24 hours in advance, call 202-687-3493 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday — Friday.

If you do not cancel or notify the career center, per the instructions above, you will be subjected to the following no-show policy:

  • First no-show — You will receive a written warning by email, indicating that you were a no-show. You will be asked to send an apology to the employer or alumnus.
  • Second no-show — Your Handshake access will be disabled until you meet with a representative of the Cawley Career Education Center. You will be asked why you failed to show up and upon completion of any necessary remedial action requested by the staff member, your Handshake access will be restored.
  • Third no-show — You Handshake access will be disabled for the remainder of the semester or academic year, depending on the frequency and severity of the event.

Alumni & Employer Events No Show

When you RSVP for an event, you are making a commitment. Clicking on the RSVP button indicates that both parties will show up for the event.

What If My Plans Change?

While we ask and expect you to RSVP to events that take place at times you can commit to, we understand that plans change. If this is the case, we ask you to communicate with the Cawley Career Education Center so that we can try to provide that slot to another Hoya.

If you must move or cancel your RSVP, please do so more than 24 hours before 9 a.m. of the day of your event via Handshake/Google calendar. If it is less than 24 hours in advance, call 202-687-3493 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
