About

Launched in Fall 2018, our peer career advising program consists of two distinct programs — Wayfinders and Student Industry Ambassadors.

Wayfinders

Our peer career counselors, known as “Wayfinders”, commit 8-to-10 hours per week to helping other students navigate their career path during their time at Georgetown. They receive extensive training from Cawley staff in the career exploration and career strategy process and have the opportunity to play an active role in making improvements to career services at Georgetown. Wayfinders meet with students in drop-in appointments to review resumes and cover letters, discuss job and internship search strategies, conduct mock interviews, lead first-year workshops, distribute marketing materials around campus, and meet with their supervisor to troubleshoot challenging appointments or discuss their own career trajectory.

Student Industry Ambassadors

Student Industry Ambassadors are juniors and seniors who help fellow undergraduate students with career questions about specific industries. This includes helping peers with the job or internship application process, networking, and the identification of resources specific to the advisee’s experiential journey. Unlike Wayfinders, most Student Industry Ambassadors are volunteers, advising less than 15 hours per semester. However, during peak recruiting season for finance, consulting, and government, we employ 3-to-4 paid advisors.
