ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Nikhil Issar
MBA Amazon Finance Manager
What does your work consist of? I work in the Education and State & Local government team of AWS. So, let’s say if Harvard wants to get AWS services, we help the sales team price those features and help with the contract.
What surprised you the most when you started working? I had to learn coding even though I was in Finance. I now know SQL, SAS, Python and VBA. SQL is mandatory for almost all finance jobs now!
What are the best ways for students to learn more about your industry and/or stay abreast of trends in the tech industry? Try reading research reports from Bloomberg and talking to alumni. Alumni really helped me in cracking all my interviews post-MBA.
If you could go back and change one thing, what would that be? I would have learned SQL during my first year of college at Georgetown.
