Pre-Law Opportunities Newsletter

October 20, 2022 – Upcoming Events, Opportunities & Resources

FROM THE ADVISOR:

Next Thursday, Georgetown Law is providing an exciting opportunity: the chance to go to the law school campus to meet and hear from admissions officers and current students in person.  Tours of the school will also be offered.  There will be presentations about the application process, Georgetown Law’s offerings, and the law school experience.  And you will have many chances to ask questions.  Don’t miss out if you’re interested in Georgetown Law and/or law school in general.  Register here.

In addition, I want to take this chance to once again plug some very helpful pre-law resources.  First, check out Law School Numbers for user-reported data on the specific LSAT scores and GPAs of applicants, those accepted, rejected, and waitlisted.  This can help you get a handle on where most accepted applicants fall numbers-wise for different schools.  Moreover, many users also report the merit and financial aid they were offered if accepted.

Second, click over to Law School Transparency for in-depth employment data from every law school in the country.  You can see how graduates of these schools fair in terms of the types of employment they attain, the salaries they get after graduation, and where in the country their jobs tend to be.  There is also information on such things as the average financial awards offered to students and the bar passage rates of schools’ graduates.

And third, AccessLex Institute maintains the very helpful Scholarship Databank of law school scholarships.  They have a great interface that lets you look for scholarships that you specifically qualify for.

Have at it!
