Dear Hoyas,

Now that school is in full swing, let’s talk a little bit about the Cawley Career Education Center.

Who Are You?
The Cawley Career Education Center is the place to go when you want to start exploring the idea of career.

“Career” means many things to many different people, from internships to jobs to grad school to academic research. But no matter what you are thinking (or not thinking) when it comes to career, Cawley is the place for you to get started.

But what if I don’t know what I want to do after graduation?
You do NOT have to know what you want to do after graduation, next summer, or even next week to meet with someone at Cawley.

You can schedule a Career Exploration appointment to simply explore options to see what might be best for you. If you do have a sense as to what you’d like to do, you can schedule an Industry Advising appointment to find out options within a specific industry (government, for example). 

How do I get started?

Regardless of where you are in your career discernment, a great first step is to log onto Handshake.
Handshake is the platform we use for all things career – for appointments, for job postings, for workshop and for employer event listings.
All students are given a Handshake account when they start at Georgetown. To log on, simply to go georgetown.joinhandshake.com  and use your standard NetID and password. Once in, start poking around at jobs and events, maybe even start setting up your profile.

And if you do want to meet with someone, click on “Career Center” and then “Appointments.”
And don’t forget, you are always welcome to stop by Monday – Friday between 1pm – 3pm for a drop-in. We are located across from the bookstore in Leavey. No appointment needed!
TL;DR
In short, we are a THE career resource for all undergraduate Hoyas and we are here to help you no matter where you are in your career or what you are interested in.

Virtual Drop-Ins:
New drop-in hours for spring semester!
Drop-ins will now be available  from 9-10AM Tuesday through Friday, 1-2PM Monday through Friday, and 7-8PM Monday through Thursday every week. 

Appointments: Virtual appointments are available via Handshake . Sign up under ‘Career Center,’ then ‘Appointments’, then ‘Industry Advising,” then ‘Government, Nonprofit, and Education’.
