Pre-Law Advising at Georgetown University

Pre-Law Advising Appointments

Pre-law advising appointments are 30-minute meetings for Georgetown undergraduates and recent alumni. In an advising session, the pre-law advisor can, among other things, help you to decide whether law school is right for you, answer questions regarding the law school application process, review your resume and personal statement and help you to generate a list of law schools that fits your needs. Schedule a pre-law appointment inĀ Handshake.

Pre-Law Workshops

  • Whether, When and How to Apply to Law School: This workshop teaches the fundamentals of the law school application process and is aimed at those who are just beginning to consider a legal career. Workshops are held during the fall semester every year.
  • How to Write a Personal Statement: This workshop addresses how to choose a personal statement topic, offers writing tips, and discusses common traps that you should avoid. Workshops are held during the fall semester every year.

Law School Visits

In the fall, several law school admissions officers visit the Georgetown campus. Learn what distinguishes one school from another, and talk with those who will be reading your application.
